Today I went to the library to get my daughter the next book in the series that she's reading. I had a feeling that God was calling me to the library and I actually had a book that I needed to return. I looked around in my car and it wasn't there so, I had to drive all the way home, get the book to return, and drive all the way back to the library. By the time I did all of that, I was sure my next stranger would be at the library.
I walked into the children's section and saw the librarian sitting at the counter. I was surprised to see someone there because it's pretty rare. I asked her name and if I could pray. She said she didn't need me to pray for anything specific. Even when I tried to dig deeper she said she had some emotional things that she was going through but wouldn't go into detail.
We held hands and I prayed. To me, it was a pretty generic prayer asking God to draw near in this trying time. Asking him to show her how precious she is to him. I can't remember exactly how I worded it but I said something about letting her know every day how much her (heavenly) Daddy loves her. Seriously, for me it was pretty short and harmless. But when I finished praying, she was crying.
She said she thinks God just led me to her because she really needed that prayer. She said it meant so much to her. It gave me a chance to keep her talking and to tell her that He really did send me to her and that he cares so deeply for her. He sees her where she is and all she has to do is invite him into these circumstances and she will never be alone.
I still don't know what specifically is going on with her. It's just such a testimony to the power of the Holy Spirit. No matter how I'm feeling or if I am seeing Him work, just my faithfulness to say "yes" each time he asks gives Him the opportunity to do something powerful for his children.
