February 19 - Jessica

Day fifty.

Today I attended a school function and realized when I got there, I hadn't prayed for anyone yet. I leaned over to the nearest person and asked if I could pray. She was so excited that I had asked. She said "The Lord works in mysterious ways, doesn't he?" She works in a school and has had two specific children on her heart. These kids are dealing with a lot of stuff at home and it bleeds into their academic life.

We held hands and prayed for them. I asked God to bless her ministry. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to not be able to talk about something that you know could help children in need. Or to silently pray that the influence you have over a child's life will last into adulthood. Whether we know it or not, school employees are fighting a spiritual battle every day. Against abuse, divorce, hunger, or just heartbreak in the homes of the kids they lead.

I love teachers. I think they meet a need that I could never meet on my own. Anyway, at the end of the night Jessica asked me to continue to pray for the two children that she is crying out to God for. I truly believe God can perform a miracle for them.
