February 22 - Amanda

Day fifty-three.

Today while I was sitting in the car line waiting for my Kindergartener, the Lord asked me to get out of my car and pray for the person in the car behind me.

I think: I'm pretty sure it clearly states in the car line instructions that we are not allowed to exit our vehicles, Jesus.

Jesus: Get out.

Me: mmmm, nope. Everyone is going to see me.

Jesus: I will see you too.

Me to my 9yr old daughter in the car (trying to elicit some sympathy): I think God is asking me to pray for the lady in the car behind us but I don't want to get out because everyone will see me and it will be weird.

Her: MOMMY!! When He says get out of the car, you get out! GO!

Dang it.

So I get out of the car... and I literally make a squinting face when I ask if I can pray for her because I realize that I've now approached this poor woman in the car line when she is probably reasonably expecting some ounce of privacy and time to herself. She has her shoes off and sitting in the floor board because she's obviously my kind of girl. Turns out, after she picks up her kid she is heading straight to a job interview. She explains that she REALLY needs this job and she would appreciate my prayers.

So I pray for God to give her the job, to control her tongue when she speaks to her potential employer, to give her favor, and to give her more money than she's asking for because He knows she is worth it. Get this, when I finish praying she gets OUT OF HER CAR with no shoes on to hug me and thank me for praying! She promises to find me later and let me know if she gets the job!!

So... you know... I just floated back to my car and told my kid all about how great it is to obey God when He tells you to go. Because I'm teaching the lessons in this family, not her.
