Day three. I saw Allison in the meat section at WalMart. She was dressed like me... like a mom. I don't know if she was a mom or not, but she was rocking those leggings like a pro so, I assumed. My signature line is "I've set a goal to pray for one stranger each day, can I pray for you?" So far, I'm three for three. Everyone is just saying yes.
I asked if she had anything specific that she needed prayer for and she said she probably did but, she couldn't think of anything at the moment. I really felt the Holy Spirit move when I prayed for her. I prayed for her family and that God would give her a renewed purpose this year.
When we finished she said "Do you know my mom?"
"Um, no."
"This just seems like something my mom would do, walking up to a stranger to pray for them."
I shared the verse that God had given me in December. James 1:22 "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only..." and how I really felt like it was time for me to start doing something with the Holy Spirit that I carry around inside me all the time. Allison made a New Year's Resolution to wear more lipstick. So we giggled about it for a few minutes and went on with our shopping.
Such a sweet moment. I wish I had taken the time to be more intentional with her. Maybe I could have asked about her mom or something. I'm extremely socially awkward though so... I just made a weird goodbye and walked away. It was like those times when you don't know how to get off the phone. Lesson learned: Stop being awkward. If someone is being talkative, it's ok to keep talking to them. Maybe God will reveal something through the conversations.
