Day four. Walking through Walmart I asked the Lord who I should pray for. I typically feel led to one person or another but the thing that God has recently taught me is that every person needs a touch from Him and they'll receive that through me.
I saw two women walking in front of me and decided to stop one of them and ask her if I could pray for her. When I stopped her, I realized she was pregnant. When I stopped her she seemed distant and closed off. I asked if she could pray and she did not react like everyone else. In fact, she seemed so put off that I said "It's ok, you can say no." She pulled out her ear buds and I realized... she was a teenager. The woman she was walking with must have been her mother.
She was very young. I was probably very intimidating. If she had been someone I already knew I would have picked up on that. I might have even addressed it by saying something about how awkward I am. Instead, I let her discomfort distract me. She agreed to let me pray and I asked her name. "Diamond." I prayed for her and called out the destiny of her unborn child and walked away apologetically feeling like I had intruded.
It wasn't until I walked away and my own discomfort faded that I heard the Holy Spirit giving me a word about her name, Diamond. #facepalm Of course! The hardest stone. She was closed off... I should have seen that. The rarest and most expensive stone (her identity in Christ). DUH!! Lesson Learned: Praying for someone doesn't have to be awkward. Expect God to move and the encounter could possibly be amazing!
Maybe I could start taking a break before I start praying... the trick is getting my mind to stop racing long enough to listen to what God is saying. Hopefully I'll become more comfortable with time.
