January 7 - Mayoria & Stella

Day seven.

A little something you may not know about me is that I am an overachiever and also a procrastinator. I put things off and jump the gun, back to back, all day long. I am literally a walking ball of anxiety on a good day so... when I have to go somewhere and tell a complete stranger that I need to pray for them, I just get antsy. My heart races, I sweat like it's August, I get a headache... I mean, really. So I'm sitting in the car praying for the person that God wants me to pray for and I just feel him say "Why not pray for someone in the parking lot." Which I think is a great idea because then I can just get it over with and go on with my shopping. (I know, I'm so Christ-like and obedient)

So I get out of the car and immediately a man walks by and he is going so fast. I think "Him Lord?" but as I'm walking behind him I realize it's going to take a lot to chase him down. Awkward. So no.

From behind me, a woman walks by and she is wearing cowboy boots. So I think "I could pray for her." But as I'm looking at her I think "You know what? I'll pray for someone on my way out of the store." (Procrastination) So I'm shopping and I see a sweet lady who is sort of meandering around so I decide she is the one, I will pray for her instead of waiting to get back to the parking lot. (jumping the gun)

Her name is Mayoria. She didn't have anything specific for me to pray for so I just blessed her finances, asked the Holy Spirit to do a new thing in her household, told the Enemy to leave in Jesus name, and then I was done. She thanked me, we went on our way. Done. Prayed for my one stranger today. Perfect.

I continue shopping and suddenly, near the dog food, I look up and I see the woman from the parking lot with the cowboy boots. We pass each other, and of course she doesn't know that I saw her in the parking lot so we keep walking. I think to myself "Nono, I prayed for my stranger. Mayoria and I got it done. No need to worry." I head to the shampoo area. Again, I look up and who do I see but the lady with the boots! From the parking lot, to the dog food, to the shampoo??? Now there's no question, I have to pray for this girl.

Her name was Stella. As soon as I ask her to pray she says "Yes! I'm a christian, I would love it if you'd pray for me." She doesn't have any specific prayer requests so I just called out her identity as a daughter of the King. I prayed over her family and her finances, I spoke against the work of the Enemy coming against her and that was it. By the end of the prayer she was tearing up. She told me how much it had blessed her and how much she really needed that prayer.

Lesson Learned: Sometimes procrastinating is the same as saying no. I said "no" to praying for Stella in the parking lot. Even though at the time it felt like I was just putting it off until later.

After checking out with my items I was walking to my car and Stella was walking out about 50 feet in front of me. I mean, Walmart just doesn't work like that y'all. You don't see someone walking in and then finish shopping, and get through the long lines, and then walk out at the same time too. God wasn't asking me to pray for someone in the parking lot, He was asking me to pray for her. I said I would catch someone on my way out and there she was.
