Sharon and I met while getting coffee. She was in line in front of me and I asked if I could pray for her. She immediately agreed and told me that she is already a believer and "will take all the prayers." Her son is currently working in youth ministry at their local church and trying to decide whether or not to go to seminary or to take a different path. His name is Cody and she asked me to pray over his decisions.
We took about 10 minutes to pray over Cody's life and the blessing of already having an adult son who is seeking after God's plan. I blessed Sharon as a mother who has created a legacy of Christ followers that will change the world using the gift of the Holy Spirit. I asked for God's hand on Cody's decisions and spoke against the enemy who is constantly seeking to distract and confuse him with everything that the world says a young adult man should be focusing on.
When we finished praying Sharon asked me if I was a student somewhere. HA! Best compliment I've had all day! "Naw Sharon, I'm just a regular mom, like you. Just being obedient to the call that God has put on my life and praying that my children grow to seek His face like yours." So, she prayed for me too... and that's exactly what the body of Christ should look like.
