March 18 - Emma

Writer's picture: Summer SlovakSummer Slovak

Day seventy-eight.

Emma checked the kids and me into our hotel this afternoon. I asked if I could pray and she agreed. I asked if she had any physical pain I could pray for and she didn't. It took her a long time to decide what I should pray for. Eventually, she told me that she is going through a divorce and her children are having a difficult time dealing with the hurt.

This is a bit of an overshare but, I just happen to be going through the same situation. My sweet babies are hurting so deeply and no matter how much I try to comfort them, I'm not the cause of the pain. Jesus has been so faithful to give me the right words for them. I shared with Emma that I am going through a similar situation and she was really surprised.

I prayed for both of us. We held hands over the front desk at the hotel and prayed for the Holy Spirit to fill the broken hearts of our children. I prayed that God would give us His heart for the situation and to make us strong enough to forgive so that our own hearts can escape this hurt without damage.

We talked a little more about how we both feel peace about the circumstances. I promised to continue to pray for her and she said she'd pray for me. I love when Jesus lets me pray for someone who needs what I need.
