May 31 - Brooke

Day One Hundred & Fifty One.

Brooke and I shared a moment at the shoe store. She is the manager there and she had a funny story to tell about something that happened earlier. After we talked and she rang up my kid's new shoes, I asked if I could pray for her. She said she needed prayer for her situation at home. Her sister is an addict and living with her and her husband. She is trying to get her life together but, addiction rarely lets go without a fight.

So we held hands over the cash register and prayed for Brooke and her sister's journey to sobriety. It was clearly weighing heavy on her and I love seeing Jesus lighten burdens immediately. When we finished praying I talked with her a little about the spiritual side of addiction. How her sister has a real enemy who wants to see her destroyed and will not easily let go. I encouraged her to keep her eyes on the one behind the addiction instead of viewing her sister as the real enemy in this situation.

Anyway, I'm just continuing to pray for these two today. My heart is mushy for siblings who have trouble finding an adult relationship.
